About NNSS
National Nutrition Surveillance System (NNSS) is designed to support action towards
better nutrition by providing regular and timely information on the nutritional
status of the population which emphasize on potential underlying causes of malnutrition
at divisional, district, and provincial level.
The first phase of the NNSS is implemented on 30 most nutritionally vulnerable Divisional
Secretariat (DS) divisions of Sri Lanka taking them as sentinel sites. Data used
for the system will be secondary data using the indicators that were considered
as useful by the potential users of the system. Respective government institutions
of the area routinely collect these data. Planning Divisions of each Divisional
Secretariat collate and upload data.
